Playing with my new Vintage Camera app....Stanley you're such a poser!

Hi everyone!

Sorry for not posting a proper post for so long. It's been a crazy few weeks of general life organisation! All in a good way though so positive changes are being made for the future. Anyways, nuff said about that.

Last weekend I had a day trip out to the lovely Leamington Spa with my buddy Lewis to hit the charity shops (was great to discover he is also madly addicted to second hand furniture shops and house clearance shops). To top the day off we went to see my folk idol Seth Lakeman playing at The Assembly Rooms. I won't bore you by going on about it too much but I have to say this much....he is a musical genius! One of the best gigs I've ever been to and have spent all week since finding all the folk festivals he's playing at this summer so I can be a groupie!

We had pre dinner treats at this cool diner called Dockers which is downstairs from the Assembly Rooms. They do amazing pancakes!

I had to share this pic with you. I found these amazing soft tan leather shoes for just £5.99 from an Age Concern charity shop. They're 70s in style with a hint of 40s about them and they're super comfy. Perfect addition to my ever growing Spring/Summer wardrobe.

Here's Seth and the boys creating folk music magic!

Now back to the main subject of this posting (I do have a habit of going off on tangents!). On our trip out Lewis introduced me to the magical iphone app Vintage Camera. It was free to download the other night so I thought I'd have a play and take a few snaps of my most beloved recent treasure...my 1984 mercedes 280e aka Stanley. The app has great different colour effects and I think if you buy the proper version you can unlock even more options.

What do you think? If you have an iphone get downloading this great app and start creating your own retro looking photos. I'm eagerly awaiting my new iphone, I know I have weird taste loving all things old but still craving some of the newest technology. I'm super excited about filling it full of great old school style photos.

Til next time!

Sunshine, Treasures & Knitwear!

It's a beautiful sunny day today so I thought I'd take a few snaps of my favourite recent purchases to share with you all.

Here goes......

I love the illustrations in this book on Antique Personal Posessions! I found it in the Oxfam bookshop for just £4. And of course I couldn't resist a Ladybird book on Brownies & Girl Guides to add to my Girl Guides memorabilia collection. A snip at just 79p!

My favourite recent purchase has to be this stunning Decca 20 gramophone. I bought it from a recent trip to The Malvern Flea and I had great fun scouring the fair to find a 78 to play on it to make sure it worked before I bought it. I've been looking for one for a while and love the uniqueness of this one with the blue and gold decoration. It was made in May 1938 and sounds amazing! I will be taking it with me to our next Worcester Flea on Sunday (4th March) and of course to the Twinwood festival in August.

Spookily, after I bought the gramophone I found three great records at a local charity shop for just 20p each and they all work and sound amazing! Very chuffed!

I found this cute little flip down calender in my bureau and thought it needed to be out and on show. I've found it very handy as my watch has no date on it. It's also super cute and tiny!

Whilst donating some unused things to a local charity shop I obviously had to have a bit of a look round and picked up this lovely book on old hat pins for just 50p. I love old curios and this represents the days when ladies were glamourous and wore jewels to hold even the most plain and boring of hats in place.

Now onto a subject I don't often talk about on here. Clothes! I paid a visit to my friend Clare at Second Hand Rose yesterday and had to take home this beautiful handknit cardi! It is a lovely peachy cream colour with specks of green and pink. I also fell in love with this cotton skirt decorated with pictures of fans. I think both of these will become staple pieces in my Spring wardrobe this year!

And to finish off is this beautiful maroon and pink hand crocheted shawl/ bed jacket. I bought it from a charity shop for just £3.95 and it's perfect for this kind of weather where there is still a bit of a nip in the air! I love all things hand knitted or crocheted so this is another of those finds that your head tells you you don't really need but your heart tells you you have to have!!

Hope you've enjoyed my little vintage treasures....I'm sure I will!

The Worcester Flea is back!

The winter is on it's way out and it's time again for the fantastic Worcester Flea to start again!

The first one is this weekend on Sunday 4th March and we have over 20 stalls of great sellers selling everything from vintage clothes and bric a brac to handcrafted gifts and goodies!

It starts at 10:30am so come along and have a mooch! We'll even be playing some old school tunes on my recent purchase of a Decca 20 gramophone so the atmosphere will be great! Check out this video for a sneek peak.

See you there!
