Summer of 70s!

The summer is well on it's way and I am soooo very pleased with the fab summer fashion trend which is 1970s style. I'm a hige fan of everything from this decade and have been waiting patiently for this trend to come round again. My wait is over!

This summer get your maxi dresses, kaftans, brightly coloured prints and high waisted shorts and trousers out and join us in embracing this trend!

This dress above is one of our favourite 1970s pieces which we have in store at the moment. It's made from a beautiful floral cotton fabric and is perfectly on trend this season.

If you feel like you're happier to embrace this trend in a more subtle way why not go for some 1970s accessories such as these sunglasses.

We haven't forgotten you men! We have some great items from this great decade such as this black leather jacket with typical large collar...........

....or if you're feeling daring why not go for one of these jazzy print shirts for just £5 each!

Weekend of Fair Madness!

Last weekend we had a manic weekend of doing two fairs over the Saturday and Sunday. I seem to have developed a habit of booking into events on every free day we could possibly have so I can't blame anyone but me!

On Saturday we were very happy to be involved in the first Worcester Motor Festival to include vintage & craft traders and we were also very happy to have no rain! It was mighty windy though and caused a few dramas (and a few dust storms!) but we had a lovely day.

This was our funky changing room designed by the lovely Helen Bridge of Second Hand Rose (who we were sharing our marquee with). It's made from a clothes rail and a duvet cover from her daughter's childhood. Very cool graphics and everyone wanted to buy it!

We both have a bit of a passion for American muscle cars and my all time favourite is the 1960s Mustang just like this one pictured above. I am definitely having one as my next car, even if I have to go over to America and bring it back myself! Think it may take a few years though to save up enough to afford fuel for the 4.5l V8 engine but it'll be worth the wait! She's a beauty!

We had the privelege of having these two old English racing drivers visiting our stall but unfortunately we were unable to find them trousers with quite enough leg length!!

On Sunday we got up at dawn and headed over the this beautiful building in Leamington Spa to be part of the Discover Vintage Fair. We saw some familiar faces and met some lovely new ones too. Even picked up a few bargains for ourselves!

We had a great time chatting to Amy who is the owner of this lovely stall, also known as Blighty Boutique. She had a fab collection of funky homewares and the cutest children's books. Check out their blog here http://blightyboutique.blogspot.com/. We also had a spooky coincedence as we found out that Amy's mum Carolyn had written a blog post about our last fair that we co-organised in Worcester at the beginning of the month. Very spooky! We thought we'd return the favour by posting her blog on here so check it out! http://thefeltfairyuk.blogspot.com/.

Phew! What a busy weekend! This weekend we are having a weekend off for the Bank Holiday and are going camping to The Cotswolds, in our lovely vintage caravan Bertie, with Tom's Brother Henry and his girlfriend Sarah. It'll be my first proper day off for 4 weeks so am very much looking forward to the rest!

Have a good long weekend peeps!

Goings on in Toadstool Land.

Since we last posted we have been busy bees here in the land of the Toadstools, as per usual! We had a lovely day at another of our wonderful Vintage & Crafts Fairs on Sunday 8th May and here are some photos so you can imagine you were there with us!

As you probably already know since we started doing the vintage and craft fairs we thought we'd carry the concept into our shop too. We have a selection of local crafters and artists who sell their handcrafted wares in our shop. The combination of vintage items and recycled or vintage inspired crafts really makes our shop come to life. To add a bit of sparkle we have a new crafty recruit! Her name is Jodie Lawford and she creates the most beautiful jewellery and accessories out of recycled lace, beads and gemstones put together with some hand crocheted pieces. Every piece has a bit of sparkle in it so perfect for all you would be princesses out there!

We have also added quite a few bits and bobs to our ebay shop so check it out by clicking the below link!

This is beautiful pink feather quilt can be yours so get bidding!

Ta ta for now!

NYC & Bank Holiday 50s Madness!

We were very lucky to be whisked away to New York a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a close family member's 50th birthday. We all had an amazing week and managed to fit in some sightseeing together with (obviously) a bit of second hand shopping. The day after we landed we headed to Hells Kitchen to the weekly flea market where we were in our element. The sun was shining and there were amazingly a couple of bargains to be had. I bought myself a cute little paisley 1960s dress for just $20, which I later discovered was a total bargain after visiting Cheap Jacks on 5th Avenue where a similar dress was for sale for $195!! Here's Tom checking out the old bikes for sale.

We also popped over the river to Brooklyn to the National Transit Museum which, I have to admit, I originally wasn't that bothered about seeing, but it turned out to be a great place to visit. There were some amazing photos from the 1930s of the tube tunnels being built and then we got the chance to go in some old subway train carriages.

This was one of my favourite photos. I love the fact the surveyor is wearing a boater and a suit to inspect the tunnel.

The below photo was taken in the 1930s and shows a beautiful townhouse which was to be demolished to make way for a bridge into Manhattan.

When we got back to sunny England (which was a surprisingly nice change from the chilly winds of NYC!) we went straight back into work and we took part in the 1950s Easter weekend at The Commandery. Here are a couple of pics of me and fellow WAVEsters Jo & Clare in our 50s finery!
